The aim of our lab's research is to understand the architecture of the language system within broader cognition. This includes how linguistic structure maps onto conceptual structure, how this mapping came to be, and how we can measure it. We address fundamental questions about the interaction of grammar, meaning, and broader cognitive processes, focusing on empirically testable predictions, building upon analyses from linguistic theory, and developing methods tailored to the question at hand. The lab focuses on two broad areas: language and event cognition and the cognitive science of linguistic variation. You can see our publications here.
